Kentucky Science Olympiad State Tournament Finals
Submitted by Visitor on Sun, 08/19/2007 - 18:03.Science Olympiad has been recognized as a model program in the National Science Standards developed by the National Research Council. It is both a middle and high school event. The Science Olympiad consists of 23 events that encompass many different science disciplines including but not limited to: Earth-Space Science, Technology, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Emphasis is placed on active, hands-on, group participation. It has been the subject of numerous science journal articles, newspaper stories, television newscasts and cable programs.

The Summer Camp for Academically Talented Middle School Students (SCATS)
Submitted by Tracy Inman on Wed, 06/06/2007 - 16:09.Sponsored by The Center for Gifted Studies at WKU, this two-week residential or nonresidential camp provides a wide range of classes for academically talented students who are completing the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade this year. Example classes include Behavior and the Nervous System; Hands-on, Minds-on Geometry; Math is Important; Pyramids, Cathedrals, and Skyscrapers; Rocket Science; and Science:From Earthworms to Roly Polies.
